All objects, installations and acts dreamt up by Tristan Kruithof are realized under the banner of EXOOT. Tristan is responsible for the artistic and practical supervision of our performances at festivals and other events.

We perform with interactive objects and installations at festivals and art events. Beside that we are specialized in mobile DJ acts with a unique look.

We’ve been hunting for musical treasures for years now. Records from the early fifties and sixties, original vinyl pressings, of course!  The roots of contemporary pop music. We know how to throw a party and  how to provide an exciting musical backdrop.

AMI6  is one of our interactive old-timers,  ideally suited cut out for cultural festivals and events.

Animatronix will be an intricate installation – several animals will float above the public. My aim is to take the magic and beauty of the animal kingdom and to reshape and reconstruct those animals in a flurry of movement, colours and shapes.  As of april 2020, this mobile act can be booked – for more information, please send an e-mail to tristan@exoot.info

Research and Development – these are the two crucial stages in the Animatronix project. In the first phase, I’m looking for a form which combines mechanics and robotics in such a way that an engaging, friendly creature can emerge, with a personality all of its own.

The animals will be remote-controlled. This enables me to be  ‘the man behind the curtain’ who can direct every movement the animals make, every interaction they initiate.  (Although you will find me ‘hidden’ in the crowd, and not behind some curtain.)

I intend to optimize the interaction between animals and audience by adding and refining inventive special effects. In this way I hope to stimulate the senses, and get a strong response from the audience.

The second and final stage is all about the development of a controllable mechanism, which allows the animals to float safely above the heads of the visitors – in a street, in a park or forest, in an industrial environment… Just imagine a giant-sized spider’s web of lines: the objects glide along these lines, completely remote-controlled.

In every new EXOOT project I challenge myself to  transform technics and mechanics into a theatrical, esthetical and interactive installation, ideally but not exclusively suited for art/ technology festivals and events.

A Citroën with a healthy dose of positivism: it grooves, flirts and flies along the streets.

A street phenomenon with a headstrong personality, AMI6 plays with - and frequently surprises - the audience.

HAPPY FISH

The goldfish that can be seen swimming in the ScubaBianchi are an intricate part of its charm. Some people may feel anxious about the well-being of the goldfish. I appreciate their concern, and I can ensure them that our goldfish are not showing any signs of stress or discomfort. If anything, they seem to glide through the water quite contentedly!

The smallest radio station of the Netherlands, provides festivals and events with fantastic vintage tunes. It creates a heady ambiance and gives nocturnal dancing a healthy shot in the arm.

Very suitable for big, festival-filled squares, dinners, weddings.. or you can use Radio Barkas to bridge a highly inconvenient gap in a festival line-up.

Radio Barkas: a mobile radio station that regularly makes a stop in places that need to be funked up. Vinyl only – back to the roots of contemporary pop music.

THE BARKAS COLLECTION

The Barkas Collection encompasses a very wide range of vinyl records – thousands of them – all collected and lovingly kept by Tristan Kruithof. For the last tweny years, Tristan has been hunting feverishly for those elusive gems - at flea markets, record fairs, online auction, charity shops…

In the collection you’ll find original pressings of records from the fifties and sixties- from  rock&roll to ska, surf, soul and mambo, from rhythm&blues to funk, exotic jazz, calypso and cumbia. At their parties, one moment you may recognize a hit from bygone days that hasn’t lost any of its fizz,  and the next moment you’ll be dazzled by musical jewels mysterious enough to make a music history professor want to twist and shout. Are you are ready for an adventure? This party will swing like a Snapping Shrimp!

Radio Barkas consists of a group of DJ’s, who have played ‘The Barkas Collection’ at

many big festivals and events throughout Europe.
